What's new in August 2024

In this update, Grove Art expands its scholarship on the art and architecture of Japan, with an update and reorganization of Grove’s article on the city of Nara as well as updates to articles on Nara’s temples, shrines, and monuments. Other new entries cover Postcards in Japan, the life and work of Japanese printmaker Hiroshi Yoshida, and the midcentury avant-garde calligraphy group Bokujinkai. This new scholarship publishes as part of Grove’s ongoing project on Asian art, overseen by Professor Sonya Lee at USC. This update also includes the publication of 26 new images and 49 emendations as part of our regular corrections process.
