What's New in May 2022

May 17, 2022

In this update, Grove Art publishes 3 new and 39 revised articles, as well as 18 emendations as part of our regular corrections process. New entries include an important set of articles on Technical Examination and Imaging, with specialized texts on Material Types, Materials Analysis, and Dating Methods and Provenance Studies for Artifacts. These texts were supervised by Joyce Townsend, Senior Conservation Scientist at the Tate, as part of Grove Art’s ongoing project on Art Conservation. Updated articles in this update cover Latin American art, including Pre-Columbian West Mexican Art and biographies of Mexican still life and portrait painter Hermenegildo Bustos and Brazilian artist Cildo Meireles, known for interventionist works incorporating pointed political messages.
