What's New in January 2022

In this update, Grove Art publishes 25 new and 10 revised articles, as well as 7 new images and 344 emendations as part of our regular corrections process. New biographies cover African artists and educators including Ghanaian painter and scholar Ernest Victor Asihene, author of the seminal Introduction to Art of Western Africa (1972), Nigerian photographer J.D. ‘Okhai Ojeikere, and Ghanaian painter and art historian Atta Kwami, whose abstract work included inspiration from traditional Asante kente cloth. In addition, this update includes major revisions to articles on Pre-Columbian Mesoamerica, including entries on Architecture, Wall Painting, and Museum Collections.

This month Benezit publishes 39 revised entries, covering major figures of the early to mid-twentieth century including Claude Monet, Willem de Kooning, Gabriele Munter, Mark Rothko, and Franz Kline.
