What's new in November 2020

November 15, 2020

This month, Grove Art publishes 4 new and 6 revised articles, as well as 105 emendations as part of our regular corrections process. This diverse material includes a new text on Renaissance artist and architect Baldassarre Peruzzi and updates to the article on the Ardagh Treasure hoard in Ireland, thought to be deposited as a result of Viking activity. A new article on the Chinese newspaper Shenbao documents the importance of the publication to the development of art in the modern era in China. New articles also publish from our ongoing project in Latin American art, spanning thousands of topics across the dictionary, including a new biography of Venezuelan artist Francisco Salazar, whose work explores geometric abstraction, space, light, and optical phenomena.

Benezit publishes 36 updated biographies, including Cuban Surrealist Wifredo Lam, conceptual text-centered artist Mel Bochner, and Austrian painter Martha Jungwirth, whose work blurs elements of figuration and abstraction.
