Argentine kinetic artist. He was one of the most active members of the large group of South American artists who established themselves in Paris in the 1950s and played a major role in the launching of Kinetic art in Europe in the next decade. He studied under Lucio Fontana at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires between 1942 and 1954, before going to Paris in 1958. There he visited Victor Vasarely’s studio and met the gallery owner Denise René, who had already established herself as the leading Parisian sponsor of geometrical and kinetic art. In 1960 Le Parc joined 11 other artists, including Francisco Sobrino and his Argentine colleagues Hugo Demarco (b 1932) and Horacio García Rossi (b 1929), in founding the Groupe de Recherche d’Art Visuel.
