Sarah Meyohas received her BA in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania and her BS in Finance from the prestigious Wharton School. She completed her MFA at Yale in 2015 and is now based in New York City where she runs her own eponymous apartment gallery, Meyohas.
Meyohas’ work is inspired by the financial market, and currency has even served as her medium. In her earlier works, Mehoyas incorporated bitcoin and blockchain systems into her work, BitchCoin, and created a value in digital currency for her photographs, calculated by the square inch. The collector/investor purchased stock certificates that could be traded in at the current rate at any point or used as credit towards a future photograph. Works were thus not purchased immediately; rather the collector acted as an investor buying stock in a larger enterprise.
