Emilios Prosalentis was born into a family of painters and sculptors and received his first instruction from his father, Spyros Prossalentis, who was a painter. He then went to Paris, where he developed an interest in the Impressionists, before returning to Corfu. He was a prolific landscape painter whose work reveals a great lyric sensibility. His portraits, however, are in the academic style he inherited from his father....
