Roiter studied at the institute of architecture in Moscow from 1978 to 1980. In Moscow he took part in a very active collective workshop set up in a nursery school that was later closed down by the Soviet authorities. He favours a gestural technique to produce Expressionist works that rely on a range of everyday materials: shower curtains, tablecloths, plastic sheeting, school blackboards, the labels from merchandise. He opts for everyday subjects such as street scenes, scenes in sports stadiums....
