Symbolism.

Juan Llimona Bruguera studied painting and architecture at the Sant Jordi school of fine arts in Barcelona. When his brother won a Fortuny scholarship, he accompanied him to Rome where they lived together for three years. In his religious works his dreamy, melancholic female figures show the influence of Puvis de Chavannes. His landscapes, infused with luminosity, show a delicate touch.
