Douglas Charles Huebler studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art at the University of Michigan, then at the Académie Julian, Paris. Like numerous young American artists who, despite the wave of Pop Art, remained loyal to Abstract art, his research led him, in terms of his early work, to 'minimal art'; his main preoccupation seemed to be gigantic dimensions.
