Born 28 January 1688, in Rees, near Cleves; died 11 November 1772, in Amsterdam.

Jan Maurits Quinckhardt was the son of Julius Quinckhardt. He studied under Arnold van Boonen, Ch. Lubrentzki and Nicolaes Verkolje. He worked in Utrecht and Amsterdam. During his lifetime Quinckhardt enjoyed a notable reputation as a portrait painter, in addition he was a talented painter of mythological and allegorical subjects. His output was prolific.
