Born c. 1607, in Haarlem, Leiden, or Amsterdam; died 1665, buried 19 December in Amsterdam.

Painter. Religious subjects, mythological subjects, portraits, genre scenes, interiors with figures.

Around 1629 Gerard Pietersz. van Zyl was studying with Jan Pynas in Amsterdam. From 1639 to 1641 he worked in London, where he became a friend of Van Dyck. He later returned to Amsterdam....
