Vordoni, Eriettalocked

Greek, 20th – 21st century, female.

Born 2 November 1959, in Athens.

Painter (mixed media), collage artist.

Erietta Vordoni studied at the schools of fine art in Athens and Paris. She works on her material, gluing together paper, tracing paper, tinfoil, accumulating layers of paint, exploring various strata and the effects of transparency, rummaging through the world of her memories and feelings and recreating them in a lightning stroke. Occasionally escaping from this scope, her painting goes beyond emotions, particularly in her harbour scenes from her childhood, and frees the past while breaking up the images.

She has taken part in collective exhibitions: Salon d'automne and Salon des grands et jeunes d'aujourd'hui in Paris, 1982; Musée National, Monte Carlo, 1984; Museum of Modern Art, Seoul, 1986. She has shown her works in individual exhibitions: Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, 1982; Queens' Museum, New York, 1986; French Institute in Athens, 1987; Galerie Lavignes-Bastille, Paris, 1989.
