Belgian, 20th century, male.

Born 31 March 1924, in Copenhagen, to an Italian mother and a Belgian father.

Painter (including gouache), draughtsman, photographer, sculptor, ceramicist.

Phases Movement.

At the age of 19, Serge Vandercam was deported to Poland. After World War II he worked as a photographer, and although he was not a member of the CoBrA group of painters, he took part in an exhibition in 1950 which was organised by the group and which was devoted to photography. This encounter encouraged him to begin drawing, and then, from 1953, to paint....
