Stuntz, Johann Baptist or Stunzlocked


Swiss, 18th – 19th century, male.

Born 1753, in Arlesheim; died 1836, in Munich.

Painter (including gouache), watercolourist, draughtsman, lithographer, art dealer. Landscapes, waterscapes.

Stuntz painted many watercolour landscapes and published a series of views of Switzerland in collaboration with J. Hartmuum. In 1802 he went to Strasbourg and became established as an art dealer. He then went to Munich and concentrated on lithography....
