Born 1560, in Antwerp; died c. 1607, in Antwerp.

In 1585 David Ryckaert I appears on the guild list as a paint mixer and canvas stretcher, so he must have worked for other painters. He married Catharina Rem in 1585 and his three sons, David, Martin and Paul, were also his pupils.
