Born 31st August 1852, in Ferrara; died 21st June 1920, in Lavagna (Liguria).

Painter, watercolourist, pastellist, draughtsman, illustrator. Religious subjects, portraits, genre scenes, landscapes.

Symbolism, Art Nouveau.

Previati studied at the academy in Ferrara, where he was influenced by the post-Romanticism of Girolamo Domenichini and Giovanni Pagliarini, and then at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence, where he frequented the studio of Amos Cassioli. He subsequently studied under Giuseppe Bertini at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan....
