Installation artist. Multimedia, artists' books.

Claude Lévêque studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Bourges. His work looks back to the world of childhood, bathed in a poetic sense of secrecy. His installations, from the earliest works which show boys covered in electric light bulbs to those where the artist is seeking appearances and their shadows, operate in narrative mode. He uses photographs, plaster, tanks, projectors, often artificial neon lighting and other everyday objects. He dramatises what he expresses and the form in which it appears. In some of his most recent installations, his social engagement seems to be expressed by denouncing an environment that is sometimes violent, while half recalling the initiatory paths of his desire to disclose.
