Joan Jonas lives and works in New York. She has travelled a great deal, and lived in Japan in 1970. She has taught at the Stuttgart Kunstakademie and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge (Mass.). Her art springs from a dramatic approach announced by Dada and resumed notably by Fluxus, more significantly in the person of John Cage.
