Precisionism (or Cubist Realism).

Ralston Crawford was brought up in Buffalo, NY and spent some time working as a sailor. From 1926-1927, he studied at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, and from 1927-1930 at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts under Hugh Breckenridge among others, and at the Barnes Foundation, Merion Station. He travelled widely in Europe, America, Egypt and the South Pacific and held a number of posts as visiting lecturer and artist at various colleges and universities in America, including the Fine Arts Academies in Buffalo and Cincinnati, the Brooklyn Museum and the University of Nebraska....
