Italian, 18th century, male.

Born c. 1709, in Venice; died 1798, in Venice.

Painter, draughtsman, decorative artist. Religious subjects, allegorical subjects, portraits, genre scenes.

Studied under Piazzetta and imitated the latter's style. Angeli produced a large number of decorative compositions but also painted genre and historical themes. He produced a number of altarpieces for churches and public monuments in Venice, Padua and Rovigo. His best work is perhaps that for the cupola of S Rocco in Venice....
