Alegre y Gorriz, Pascuallocked

Born in Valencia; died 2 October 1879, in Madrid.


A teacher first at the school of art in Valencia and later at that in Madrid, Alegre submitted an engraving of Velázquez' Christ on the Cross and another based on a Goya portrait to the 1866 national art exhibition. Later he engraved illustrations for Antonio Rotondo's History of the Escorial. He also reproduced paintings by the masters, kept in the collection of the San Fernando Academy.
