He first studied architecture at the academy in Munich. His designs for ornamentation enabled him to get a job as a designer at the Nymphenburg royal porcelain works. Ainmiller was, however, not to be confined to such secondary employment. His aptitude for glass painting soon manifested itself in experiments, then in more substantial works that brought his talent to the fore.
