Cristóbal Acevedo was a pupil of Bartolomé Carducho around 1585. He specialised in historical painting and, having gained a strong reputation from his early works, was commissioned to decorate a number of convents and churches in Madrid. With a pure, broad and powerful style ideally suited to the subjects of sacred art, he is particularly known for his composition of the Virgin in the chapel of the College of S Fulgencio in Murcia....
