Grove Art Online is pleased to present this update of entries on contemporary art authored by leading and rising figures in their fields, with more planned in the near future. New biographical essays on Imran Qureshi, Mickalene Thomas, Paulo Bruscky, and Tetsu Okuhara mark our commitment to keeping up with global developments in contemporary practice. Entries on the francophone African practice of Récupération and on Internet Art bring attention to these important and diverse practices. The contemporary update includes new biographies of current practitioners working in the vein of social practice, among them Harrell Fletcher, Miranda July, David Ireland, and Tom Marioni. Though modest, this update indicates attention to coverage of practitioners and practices from a range of locales beyond the major art markets; future planned revisions to existing entries will enrich the global discourse substantially.
