(b San Juan, Dec 23, 1751; d San Juan, Nov 7, 1809). Puerto Rican painter. Campeche y Jordán’s father was a freed black slave, while his mother was from the Canary Islands and was considered white. He may have received some artistic training from his father, who was a gilder, decorator, and painter.
