From 1969 to 1972, Fetting trained as a carpenter while simultaneously, completing his professional training in stage design at the Landesbühne (country theatre) in Wilhelmshaven. He went to Berlin and studied under Hans Jaenisch at the art academy until 1978. In 1977, with three other contributors, he had co-founded the Galerie am Moritzplatz, near the Berlin wall that divided East and West Germany. In 1978 Fetting obtained a German Exchange Grant (DAAD) to stay in New York. When he returned, he collaborated on many group paintings, and from 1976 to 1981 produced several films....
