Antonio Blasi was the son of Antonio Seguí Blasi. He started out as a wood engraver and wood continues to play a predominant role in his work: he paints on wood, uses embossed wood in collage and throws sawdust on his paintings, which include trompe l'œil wood effects and often contain wooden boxes, no doubt in reference to the coffin, the final wooden box.
