António de Oliveira Bernardes was the son of Manoel Rodrigues Oliveira Bernardes. He was a tile painter and decorated churches in Peniche, Rates, Bemfica and Évora, as well as Braga Cathedral, with his work. In 1715 he worked at Braga in the chapel of S Pedro de Rates.
