Jacques Maret exhibited infrequently. He was one of those artists who, as Baudelaire put it, had 'meditated on geometry'. Despite this, he had a unique, fresh inventiveness. He painted landscapes, invigorating his rigorously constructed compositions with the gracefulness of his colours.
