Paul Devautor teaches at the École des Beaux-Arts in Marseilles. Since 1985 he and Yoon Ja have not produced works of art under their own names in the traditional way. They have invented imaginary artists (Richard Allibert, Buchal and Clavel, Dr Brady, Gladys Glover, J. Duplo, Florian Faebel, Manuel Ismora, Art Keller, Richard Kongrossian, Siegwart Kromekote, Claude Lantier, Alexandre Lenoir, Cercle Ramo Nash, Kit Ragenta, Martin Tupper, Serge Valene, David Vincent and many more) whose works they manage by organising exhibitions. Under the name Collection Yoon Ja and Paul Devautour, it is the collection that becomes their work. In doing this they are criticising the rules of the game in the art world and questioning notions of style, authorship and exhibition....
