David Novros studied at the University of Southern California, obtaining a BFA in 1963, and has travelled in Europe and Mexico. He has been cited as an important exponent of Systemic Painting within the American Minimalist movement. Best known for his frescoes, he has been inspired by Italian masters such as Masaccio, Giotto and Fra Angelico, and has also been influenced by early Christian and Romanesque painting and by Byzantine mosaics.
