Avi Trattner lives and works in Beer-Yaacov. His primitive, highly graphic works, full of lines, hatching and interlace, evoke the work of Cy Twombly. He uses an earthy palette, rich in material effects and dominated by ochres and browns, but which give forth the occasional splash of colour, and a very gestural technique, full of tension, such as when working around the image of a stray dog - an abstract shadow against a neutral background imprisoned by the canvas, out of context, representing the isolation of Israel’s Jews.
