Born probably in London; died 21 September 1794, in Chiswick, drowned.

Benjamin van der Gucht was the son and probably the pupil of the engraver John van der Gucht. He also studied at the St Martin's Lane Academy and was to be one of the first students to enrol at the newly founded Royal Academy Schools.
