Born 2 October 1924, in La Valette (Var).

Painter (including gouache/mixed media), sculptor, illustrator, designer. Designs for tapestries.

After secondary school in Toulon, François Arnal studied at the faculty of arts and law in Aix-en-Provence. He began painting in 1940, then, having joined the French Resistance in 1943, settled in Paris in 1948 and began his career as an artist. In 1949 he was awarded the Prix de la Jeune Peinture, which gave him the opportunity to mount his first solo exhibition the following year. In the 1950s he belonged to Michel Tapié's group ...
