Born 1954, in Villecresnes (Essonne).

Painter (gouache), pastellist, sculptor. Frescoes, monuments.

Lydie Arickx was a pupil at the college of graphic arts in Paris from 1974 to 1978. Line and colour combine in her work to produce violent Expressionism, at times bordering on cruelty, even in love, though all she is seeking in the figures she portrays, flayed alive, is their spirit, as she herself asserts. Her work shows the influence of Egon Schiele, Otto Dix and Georges Grosz, but above all, especially in her use of pastel, of Francis Bacon and Luis Cabellero. In ...
