Italian, 16th century, male.

Born 1505, in Motta di Livenza; died 9 March 1588, in San Vito, in Friuli.

Painter, fresco artist, engraver, draughtsman. Religious subjects.

Pomponio Amalteo was the son of Leonardo, a burgess of Motta, and of Natalia, the sister of the Latin scholars Paolo Marcantonio and Francesco Amaltei. He was a pupil of Pordenone and became his brother-in-law. His reputation quickly grew and he received important commissions within the province....
